In
2006, we got our first Border Collie. Instantaneously falling in love with the breed, we’ve set out to breed quality, sound, and versatile performance AKC/ABCA dual registered Border Collies. We highly focus on health, drive, work ethic, trainability, temperament, and structure, so our dogs will excel in canine performance sports. Although our dogs are incredible athletes, they'll always be wonderful family compainons first and foremost.
Our dogs have been trained in obedience, disc dog, agility, flyball, dock diving, and as trick dogs. We've performed with our dogs doing stunt dog shows and performance demonstrations across the southeastern United States. We've also had the pleasure of doing a half-time show for the OLPH Rams football team here in Chattanooga, TN. Our dogs have even appeared on FOX Carolina and NBC doing disc dog demonstrations.
None of our dogs are bred until their at a minimum of two (2) years of age and have had some health clearances. All of our dogs are OFA tested Fair, Good, or Excellent. We also Optigen test our dogs to be CEA/CH Normal or Carrier (unless CEA/CH Normal by parentage) before we breed. Any dog that doesn't meet these minimal breeding requirements health wise will not be bred, an
d immediately spayed or neutered. When permitted, we also test our dogs for other congenital diseases like TNS, CL, MDR1, etc. If we feel one of our males isn't compatible with one of our females, we'll use an outside stud dog that we feel would help us improve our bloodlines and the breed.
Our puppies are born in our house and raised indoors until they are ready to leave when they are eight weeks old. From day one, puppies are handled, spoken to, and played with daily. We highly believe in "Early Neurological Stimulation" written by Dr. Carmen Battaglia which improves and enhances performance. Socialization is very important and we surround puppies with unusual sounds like the radio, television, and dropping items. When they're old enough, puppies have the opprotunity to explore and take their first steps outside. Puppies have the pleasure of meeting other pets and people. We evaluate temperament through the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test to try and match the best puppy with each owner.
While they're small, we take the opprotunity to bottle feed our puppies for early human bonding. At about three weeks of age, we start weaning our pups from t
heir mothers. We use a holistic grain free puppy food called Taste of the Wild (Pacific Stream Puppy) to give our pups the best start! The food is first blended and mixed with water to make a puppy mush and gradually just dry kibble. For an extra boost, we supplement with K9 Power's Puppy Gold. At two weeks of age we deworm our puppies and continue every two weeks afterwards. First vaccinations are given when they’re six weeks old.
Puppies leave with a puppy packet including medical records for shots and deworming, puppy pads, food sample, treats, training clicker, toys, collar, leash, food/water bowls, toys, pedigree(s), a CD of puppy pictures, and a written sales contract. All puppies are also microchipped before leaving! We have a breeding rights contract and a non-breeding contract. We also have a two year health guarantee on all of our puppies for congenital diseases and hip/elbow dysplasia.
Out of our own pockets, we also try to rescue Border Collies and Border Collie mixes in need; whether they’re owner surrenders, found on the street, or saved from being euthanatized at an animal shelter. We believe that every dog should have a second chso are spayed and neutered before going to new homes. If we can, we try to put some basic obedience training into these dogs until they find the
irance and since we love the breed, we only feel it is right to help them. All rescue dogs receive their rabies and DHLPP vaccinations. They al perfect homes.
We will NOT sell any of our dogs, puppies, or adopt any of our rescues out to pet stores, dog fighters, animal dealers, puppy mills, or brokers. If you ever have to give your older dog, puppy, or rescue that you got from us up then we highly encourage, even require, that you bring him or her back to us! We love all of our dogs and will take them back at any point in their lifetime. We will hold onto any returned dogs until we can find the perfect new forever home for them.
